Grand Master Bucky Norman began his martial arts training in 1979 with Grand Master Georg Iberl . He is Grand Master George Iberl¹s senior student and Chief Instructor and currently helps teach classes three days a week at Grand Master Iberl’s karate school. Grand Master Norman is a member of Grand Master Georg Iberl’s Karate Federation, founded in 1981, and the Okinawa Isshinryu Karate & Kobudo Association, founded by Grand Master Angi Uezu in 1991.
During the past 35 years, Grand Master Norman has helped teach numerous self defense and weapons seminars and has assisted at karate demonstrations for local charities, schools and organizations. During his competition career, Grand Master Norman competed in karate tournaments in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Maryland doing weapons and open hand kata and kumite (fighting). Because of his competition and training experience, he is regularly asked to serve as a judge at tournaments. In addition to his training in Isshinryu, Grand Master Norman has trained with Dr. Maung Gyi, founder of the American Bando Association and with Grand Master S.L. Martin of the IFCMA & Green Dragon Kuo Shu Kwan .
On May 19, 1995 Grand Master Norman was awarded Instructor of the Year from Georg Iberl’s Karate Federation and was inducted into the OIKKA Hall of Fame on June 19, 2001.
Grand Master Iberl founded the OIKKA Hall of Fame during a visit to Okinawa in September of 1996 with permission from Grand Master Angi Uezu. The first OIKKA awards banquet was held in May of 1997 in Gettysburg, PA where Grand Master Uezu was honored as the first inductee for his lifelong commitment to honoring the teachings of Soke Tatsuo Shimabuku. The OIKKA Hall of Fame membership is made up of Isshinryu practitioners from across the United States. Those inducted into the Hall of Fame include Isshinryu students and teachers who have made significant contributions to the study and spread of Isshinryu karate.
Grand Master Norman currently holds the rank of Ku Dan (9th degree black belt) from Grand Master Georg Iberl.
Sensei Jennifer Norman began her training with Grand Master Georg Iberl in February of 2002. Jennifer is also a member of Grand Master Georg Iberl’s Karate Federation and the Okinawa Isshinryu Karate & Kobudo Association.
Jennifer has competed in tournaments in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Virginia performing weapons and open hand kata as well as kumite (fighting). She has also trained with Dr. Maung Gyi, founder of the American Bando Association and with Grand Master S.L. Martin of the IFCMA & Green Dragon Kuo Shu Kwan.
Jennifer currently holds the rank of Go Dan, fifth degree black belt from Grand Master Iberl.
Jennifer received her certification as an ISSA Youth and Adult fitness trainer in 2010 and 2011. Jennifer is also the fitness trainer for fitness4youth which is a sub division of Gettysburg Isshinryu Karate, LLC. fitness4youth was created to help children to be empowered through fitness and nutrition. As a certified youth fitness trainer, Jennifer understands how fitness and training principles apply specifically to kids and teens.
